Package Includes:

  • 4x plastic standoffs (standoffs go underneath the tabs you can use superglue to glue them in place, but that is not needed, see picture) the lid just snaps on!!
  • 1 DC wall adapter power supply which is solder onto circuit board (see picture)
  • audio cables which are soldered to the circuit board (one is speaker output and one is microphone input). The length of each cable is about 19 inches (see picture)
  • This interface board will be installed in an enclosure/box! The box is for indoor use only!!

This interface board is plug and play (NO soldering, wiring, etc.) ONLY for Retevis RT97s (NOT RT97 MUST be the RT97S model) or the Midland MXR10 GMRs two-way radio repeaters! Those two repeaters have a DB9 on the side of them, this interface board plugs into the computer and repeater! So you can run programs on the computer like date & time, weather announcements, repeater ID, Zello and this can broadcast over your two-way radio air waves and/or over zello! Also, it lets you have remote DTMF tones functions!

What you need to buy separately for interface board to work!!!

I highly recommend using USB sound card!! I have brand-NEW computers and the sound card in them didn’t have good sound quality for this setup!!

1). You need a computer that is running Windows 8 and higher for the software the interface board uses, This DON’T need to be a top of a line it can be an older one. The computer software that is need to be uses on the computer does NOT require a fast or a computer with high graphics!

2). Here is the USB sound card I use!! (highly recommend using a USB sound card)

3). You will also need a USB to DB9 adapter (unless your computer is old enough and has one, then you won’t need one)

if you want to try your computer built in sound card, but it only has ONE headphone jack, then you will need this adapter:

Linking repeaters together using Zello

Using this interface board, you can link many Retevis RT97S and/or Midland mxr10 repeaters together using zello!! This is helpful when needing more distance!! Each repeater you want to link will need an interface board and a mini PC or Raspberry Pi 3b+, etc. Also to use zello you must be able to get internet at the repeater site!

    After reviewing the YouTube videos on how to install and configure the software, the interface board worked perfectly on the first try. I even got Zello working in short order. This device made my Retevis RT97S an exceptional repeater.

    This board has been flawless for months now, it’s 100% plug and play with zero issues on the initial install. I have my midland MXR10 plugged into this board running zello, date and time, and my morse code beacon. My repeater is in a waterproof box out doors it’s been fine in 100° and now all the way to 9° and it cycled anywhere from 2500 to 3500 times a day from zello.

      UPDATE: 2-5-2024 it was his sound blaster player software causing problems, once he adjusted the sound within that program it fixed his problem.

    Awesome board. Totally plug and play, but also totally configurable. Don’t delete the order confirmation email, because it is FILLED with tutorials on how to use. Only thing that would make it any better would be an enclosure (or just plans to 3D print one).
